Description: I am working with a consultancy feeding into the public sector looking for a Java Tech Lead to join on a 1 year contract.

BPSS (SC preferred/ SC eligible)
Newcastle beneficial but not essential (1x a week initially, then onsite for team exercises)
Inside IR35

Essential technical skills:
  • Java/Spring
  • NodeJS / Express / NextJS
  • CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab CI)
  • Mongo NoSQL databases
  • TDD + Unit testing
  • AWS Cloud Technologies (SQS/SNS/ECS/Lambda/KMS)
  • Apache Kafka
  • Docker/Containerization
  • Git
  • IaC (Terraform)

Essential behavioural skills:
  • Leadership skills, Agile mindset and awareness/Ways of working, Adaptable Communication with stakeholders (technical to layman), Able to see things from the big picture (e.g. Agent and Apply Squad product focus), Understanding of engineering excellence across services (GDS services), Coaching and mentorship for fellow tech team, collaborative, Growth mindset, creative and Innovative, problem solving skills
