PHP Developer - Sunderland - Hybrid (2 days from office)- up to £50K DOE

We are seeking an experienced PHP Developer to join a growing engineering team working on impactful digital products utilised worldwide. This role centres on a flagship professional EdTech platform, with the opportunity to contribute across a wider suite of tools used by thousands. You'll be part of a small, collaborative team where your work has clear purpose, and your ideas help shape the product's evolution.

This position is well-suited to someone who enjoys taking full ownership of features, thrives on solving technical challenges, and wants to deepen their backend expertise while still working confidently across the full stack. You'll work daily with PHP, Symfony, PostgreSQL, and React, and contribute to infrastructure and deployment processes alongside experienced engineers.

Skills:

• Solid experience with backend development and API design using PHP

• Experience with relational databases - PostgreSQL

• End-to-end feature ownership across the stack
• Familiarity with agile development

Desirable

• Symfony experience
• Automated testing frameworks and practices
• React or modern frontend frameworks
• AWS deployments or DevOps experience

Salary for this role is £40K - £50K DOE
