Business Development Manager - Precision Manufacturing

UK (with travel) Company Car Competitive + Uncapped Commission

A well-established, privately owned manufacturing business with a long-standing reputation for quality and technical excellence is looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to drive the next phase of growth.

Operating within precision plastics manufacturing, the company supplies high-specification components to a diverse client base - from innovative start-ups to globally recognised brands across sectors such as automotive, medical, electronics and security.

This is a newly shaped, high-impact role offering genuine autonomy and the opportunity to directly influence the future direction of the business.

The Opportunity

This is a true new business role - ideal for a commercially driven individual who thrives on building pipelines from scratch, opening doors, and securing long-term customer relationships.

You'll take full ownership of new business activity, supported by an experienced leadership and technical team, and will be tasked with expanding into new sectors and strengthening the company's customer portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, target and win new customers across key growth sectors
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline from initial contact through to order
  • Develop sector penetration strategies and growth plans
  • Lead commercial discussions including pricing, MOQs and contractual terms
  • Represent the business at industry events, trade shows and client meetings
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and quality teams to convert enquiries into viable projects
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasting and pipeline visibility
  • Provide market insight including competitor activity and sector trends

About You

Essential:

  • Proven success in winning new business within manufacturing, engineering or technical product environments
  • Strong background in plastics, injection moulding or a similar process
  • A genuine "hunter" mindset with the ability to generate and convert opportunities
  • Commercially astute with confident negotiation skills
  • Technically credible - able to engage with engineers and understand drawings/processes
  • Highly organised, self-driven, and comfortable working autonomously
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with automotive quality standards (e.g. IATF, PPAP, APQP)
  • Existing industry network
  • Experience contributing to marketing or lead generation activity
