We re a leading global specialist in advanced industrial technologies and solutions for the power generation and heavy industrial sectors. We re looking for a technically strong, customer-focused Mechanical Engineer to join our Commercial Operations team in Dumbarton.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer who is confident working with Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and enjoys applying first-principles engineering knowledge to real customer challenges combining technical depth with proposals, applications support, and client engagement.

About the Role

You will be the key technical expert helping customers select, configure, and apply our specialised industrial equipment. A core part of the role is creating, reviewing, and revising P&IDs, alongside performing calculations and delivering strong technical proposals that lead to successful project outcomes. You ll work closely with Sales, Contracts, and Aftermarket teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, revise, and maintain Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) using CAD (AutoCAD, Solid Edge or similar) this is a central element of the role
• Provide technical support for product selection, configuration, and applications
• Perform pressure and flow calculations for industrial systems
• Review technical proposals and orders to identify and mitigate risks
• Create and deliver technical presentations and reports to customers (virtually and in-person)
• Support tender preparation and collaborate with internal engineering teams
• Contribute to product improvements, engineering standards, and new technology development
• Produce clear, high-quality technical documentation (especially Excel)

What We re Looking For

Essential

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics and mechanics from first principles
• Practical experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment
• Proven experience preparing and revising P&IDs using CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Edge or similar)
• Experience with technical calculations

• Genuine interest in power generation or heavy industrial equipment is highly advantageous
