The Royal College of Surgeons of England and JCST (Joint Committee on Surgical Training) are looking for an experienced interim Business Analyst to lead the review and analysis of its Portfolio Pathway processes the route by which surgeons join the GMC s Specialist Register outside standard UK training. This is a fixed-term, freelance engagement running from September 2026 to January 2027, at approximately three days a week. Demand for Portfolio Pathway evaluations has been rising, and JCST wants to make sure its internal processes keep pace without compromising quality. You ll map current workflows end-to-end, assess staff capacity and workload, and identify duplication, bottlenecks, and opportunities to streamline all within a clearly defined timeline driven by GMC reporting deadlines running through to January 2027. You ll work closely with Project Management Office (PMO) and Business Analyst team throughout the engagement. The PMO will take a lead role in stakeholder engagement and the later implementation-planning stages, so you ll be working collaboratively rather than driving those elements independently a good fit for someone comfortable supporting as well as leading, depending on the phase.
