Description:

An Enterprise Data Architect is required to shape how enterprise data is structured, documented, and governed across multiple organisational domains, in support of a large-scale technology transformation programme.

You will be responsible for:

  • Defining the tools and metamodel strategy for enterprise data architecture
  • Leading current-state data discovery and documenting current-state data landscapes across the organisation
  • Evaluating and selecting data architecture tooling based on business and technical requirements
  • Standardising architecture artefacts and views across projects, services, and domains
  • Defining repository and metamodel structures, including ownership, metadata management, and tool integration
  • Developing practical modelling standards, conventions, and design guidelines
  • Cataloguing key data stores, databases, messaging platforms, and operational repositories across Legacy, hybrid, and cloud environments
  • Developing conceptual and high-level logical data models, data flow diagrams, and interface inventories
  • Identifying architectural gaps, risks, dependencies, bottlenecks, and regulatory concerns
  • Populating and maintaining data architecture models and metadata within enterprise architecture and data management tools

Required experience and skills:

  • Extensive experience as an Enterprise Data Architect in a complex programme environment
  • Experience evaluating and configuring enterprise architecture and data governance tools, ideally including Ardoq or Microsoft Purview
  • Strong practical experience in conceptual and logical data modelling, ERDs and enterprise metamodel design
  • Proven ability to trace, document and visualise data pipelines, API integrations and ETL/ELT flows
  • Experience assessing architectural debt, data quality issues and cross-border data residency constraints
  • Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex architectural trade-offs to senior leadership and technical teams
  • Understanding of data mesh and domain-driven design principles
  • Public Sector or Central Government experience, with an understanding of the Technology Code of Practice and GDS service standards, will be beneficial
