| Description: | IT Helpdesk TechnicianNewry £30,000-£40,000 DOE Full-timeMCS Group is delighted to be partnering with a growing and ambitious organisation to recruit an IT Helpdesk Technician for their Newry-based team.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on IT support and wants a role where they can make a genuine impact. You'll work closely with an experienced IT Manager, helping support users across multiple locations while gaining exposure to a broad range of systems, hardware and networking.With continued business growth and investment in new technology, this isn't a role where you'll be stuck doing the same thing every day. You'll join at an exciting stage, with plenty of opportunity to broaden your experience and take on more responsibility as the IT function develops.The role This is a varied, generalist IT support position where you'll be the person colleagues turn to when they need technical help. Your responsibilities will include:Managing and resolving day-to-day IT helpdesk ticketsSetting up laptops, PCs, mobile phones, email accounts and user loginsSupporting Windows environments and Microsoft 365 applicationsTroubleshooting hardware, software, printers and peripheral devicesSupporting networking issues including Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VPNAssisting with Active Directory and user account administrationBuilding and configuring PCs and other equipmentOnboarding new starters and ensuring their IT setup is ready from day oneSupporting the monitoring and maintenance of IT hardware and softwareHelping identify and recommend appropriate IT equipment and solutionsProviding occasional support to other UK locationsThe company's job specification places particular emphasis on hands-on support across computer systems, hardware, mobile devices and networking, alongside responsibility for resolving tickets through the IT helpdesk.What we're looking for This role would suit someone who already has experience within IT support, service desk, helpdesk or an IT technician position and wants to take the next step in a broad, hands-on environment.You'll ideally bring:Previous experience resolving IT support ticketsStrong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365Experience supporting PCs, laptops, printers and mobile devicesAn understanding of networking fundamentalsFamiliarity with Active Directory and user administrationStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsGood communication and interpersonal skillsThe ability to prioritise your workload and manage multiple requestsA proactive attitude and willingness to get involved across the IT functionRelevant IT qualifications and exposure to virtualisation or cloud-based systems would also be beneficial.What's on offer? You'll receive a £30,000-£40,000 salary depending on experience, alongside a strong overall package including 28 days' annual leave, employer pension contribution, private healthcare, cycle-to-work scheme and free on-site parking.Working hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, with the role initially based on-site in Newry. Once you're established and comfortable in the position, there is flexibility to work from home one day per week, alongside reasonable flexibility for appointments.You'll be joining a relaxed, down-to-earth working environment within a business that is continuing to grow and invest.
