Design & Test Engineer - Space Systems

Are you an engineer who enjoys actually building and testing the things you design?

Alexander Associates is recruiting for an innovative engineering organisation developing advanced technology for the space sector.

We're looking for a Design & Test Engineer to work across the design, development, integration and physical testing of complex engineering hardware.

This is a genuinely hands-on position. You'll be involved in taking engineering requirements through to test, developing test methods and equipment, working with instrumentation and analysing real-world test data to understand how hardware performs.

You'll be involved in:

• Designing and developing complex engineering hardware and test solutions
• Planning and carrying out functional and performance testing
• Developing test rigs, fixtures and test equipment
• Instrumentation, sensors and data acquisition
• Hardware assembly, integration and commissioning
• Analysing test results and investigating failures
• Root-cause analysis and engineering problem solving
• Feeding test findings back into future designs
• Producing test procedures, reports and engineering documentation
• Working alongside mechanical, electrical, controls and systems engineers

We'd particularly like to hear from engineers with experience in:

• Design, development, test or validation engineering
• Mechanical or electromechanical hardware
• Engineering test rigs and instrumentation
• Sensors and data acquisition systems
• Mechanical design/CAD
• Pressure, temperature, flow, vibration or environmental testing
• LabVIEW, PLC, SCADA or test automation
• Aerospace, defence, automotive, energy or other complex engineering environments

Previous space-sector experience would be advantageous but isn't essential. We're equally interested in strong engineers from adjacent industries who can demonstrate real hands-on design and test capability.

This is an opportunity to work close to the hardware and be involved throughout the engineering lifecycle rather than focusing on one narrow part of the development process.
