Senior Data Analyst

The starting salary for this role is 42,958 per annum, working 36 hours per week.

About the Role

Our aim as a Business Systems Team is to be best in class by delivering a professional, innovative, and resilient technological infrastructure to the Council. We take a consultancy and solution-focused approach to ensuring that business systems and associated property data, are robust, secure, and user-centric, while staying ahead of digital trends and constantly evaluating emerging technologies to improve public service delivery.

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting and leading the management, analysis and continuous improvement of property data and systems across Land & Property, ensuring data accuracy, delivering actionable insights, driving process improvements, and developing colleagues to promote data-driven decision-making environment.

After settling into your new role, you will build specialist knowledge in your assigned service area with property related data sets including:

• Property master data (addresses, geospatial, portfolio groupings)
• Spatial data/CAD
• Estates functions (leases, valuations)
• Workplace & Facilities data (assets, work orders)

You will also gain experience working with Land & Property's Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS) system which is the central system of the service and where most of the datasets mentioned reside.

Shortlisting Criteria

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours:

• Demonstrable understanding of property-related information and its application within a large organisation with a diverse property portfolio.
• Extensive experience in information management, ideally within a property, estates, facilities, or asset management environment.
• Proven experience as a Data Analyst, including the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and produce meaningful insights and reports.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience working with property management systems and relational databases along maintaining data integrity.
• Experience specifying, developing, and delivering reports to support property management and business decision-making.
• Experience of delivering projects and/or a recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APMP).

Local Government Reorganisation (LGR)

Surrey County Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation and will move to new authorities in April 2027. This role is currently employed by Surrey County Council and will remain so until then. If you are employed by Surrey County Council on 1 April 2027, your employment will transfer under TUPE arrangements to one of the new councils, with your current terms and conditions protected. The provisional allocation for this post is East Surrey Council, subject to final confirmation through the wider transition process later this year.
