Peterborough Full time £58,500 + overtime

Hybrid Working

A leading process automation business is entering an exciting period of growth and is strengthening its senior engineering team. This senior position sits at the heart of that growth.

If you've spent the last ten years mastering Rockwell and want your expertise to shape a business on the way up, read on.

The opportunity

Control systems keep factories running, water flowing and processes safe. Done well, nobody notices. Done badly, everybody does. In this role, you will make sure customers never have to think about it.

My client delivers the full lifecycle, from quick upgrades to complete turnkey solutions: assessment, design, build, installation, commissioning, training and support. As Principal Engineer, you will be the technical authority across all of it.

Why this role, and why now

• Join during the growth. You will come in as the business scales, with real influence over how the team, its standards and its approach develop.
• Own your projects end to end. From the first quote to final commissioning, you will represent the business to its customers.
• Never the same week twice. You will work across different industries and processes, solving a new problem each time.
• Lead and mentor. You will set the technical standard and help develop the next generation of engineers as the team grows.
• See your work come to life. You won't hand projects over and walk away. You will commission them on site and watch them perform.

Key Responsibilities

• Developing PLC and SCADA applications, from control logic to complete systems
• Turning customer URS documents into clear functional design specifications
• Testing and commissioning your systems at customer sites
• Troubleshooting and optimising process performance
• Working with project engineers, designers and clients to define requirements
• Making sure every design is safe, compliant, reliable and on spec
• Supporting colleagues as the team grows

Essential skills required

• An electrical engineering degree or apprenticeship
• 10+ years with Rockwell Allen-Bradley ControlLogix
