Our client, a leading entity in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a skilled Site Reliability / DevOps Engineer to join a dynamic team on a contract basis. This role involves working directly with clients to integrate and support highly critical live solutions while taking responsibility for release procedures and deployment tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Deploying APIs and UI components into a Kubernetes cluster
Integrating API / UI components with existing data stores and APIs
Maintaining and developing existing architectural components, including Data Ingest, Data Stores and REST APIs written in Java
Working as part of an SRE team for the maintenance, observability, and investigations of deployed systems
Participating in sprint ceremonies with the agile team, including stand-ups, epic decomposition, demos, and planning sessions
Assisting the wider team to understand upcoming API features and their impact
Job Requirements:
Required Skills:
Experience with Java
Proficiency in Kubernetes / OpenShift
Linux Sys Admin for deployed clusters (10s of servers)
Familiarity with various Linux Operating Systems distributions
Experience with GitLab
Knowledge of Helm
Desirable Skills: Familiarity with any of the following technologies would be advantageous:
Ansible
Prometheus / Grafana
Clickhouse (OLAP database)
GitLab / Tekton Pipeline development
Experience in integration and debugging
Understanding of complex system architectures
Technologically curious with the ability to upskill in new technologies
Other Information:
Location: Gloucester, with a minimum of 3 days per week at the customer site
Clearance: Must already hold UKIC DV (ideally West)
Duration: Through to 31/03/2026, with a high probability of extension
