Lead Linux Engineer

On behalf of the Cabinet Office, we are looking for a Lead Linux Engineer (Inside IR35 until 31/03/2026 based Hybrid in London office.

The Cabinet Office supports the Prime Minister and ensures the effective running of government. The Cabinet Office is also the corporate headquarters for the government, in partnership with HM Treasury, and takes the lead in certain critical policy areas. As a Lead Linux Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:
. Designing and implementing new services to meet the evolving needs of the Cabinet Office.
. Be a crucial point of escalation for our Live Service, diving deep into root cause analysis and finding effective solutions.
. Guiding and mentoring junior engineers, creating a collaborative and growth oriented team environment.
. Managing and supporting our AWS cloud environment, including deploying new services via code.
. Maintaining and enhancing our infrastructure Servers (Linux and Windows), with primary focus on the Linux Servers.
. Working with cutting edge cloud technologies, contributing to the migration of existing systems and the implementation of innovative new solutions.

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
