Full stack engineer (Nodejs)

Application Engineer, Cambridge or London (hybrid, 3 days onsite)

This is an opportunity to join a growing application engineering team working on production-grade systems at the intersection of software engineering, data, and applied AI.

THE ROLE

As an Application Engineer, you will work within a cross-functional product team, building and scaling features that are used directly by customers.

• Develop full stack features across a large, complex platform
• Work with high-volume, data-heavy systems where performance and scalability matter
• Collaborate closely with product managers, QA, and AI-focused R&D teams
• Take ownership of features from design through to production and iteration
• Contribute ideas and improvements rather than working from rigid specifications

TECH ENVIRONMENT

• JavaScript and TypeScript
• Node.js
• Modern frontend frameworks (with an ongoing migration to React)
• PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis
• AWS, Docker, Kubernetes
• Java / Python experience is an advantage

WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR

• Strong academic background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline (1st or 2.1 from a good University)
• Typically 3-5 years of commercial software engineering experience, with flexibility for exceptional candidates
• Experience building production software, ideally in a full stack environment
• Strong problem-solving ability and logical thinking
