Lead Software & DevOps Engineer - Cybersecurity 3 x days a week in Sheffield (Non Negotiable) Inside IR35 A global financial services organisation is seeking a Lead Software and DevOps Engineer to play a key role in shaping and delivering next-generation cybersecurity engineering capabilities across a large-scale enterprise technology estate. This is an opportunity for a hands-on technical leader to design and implement modern security solutions, develop reusable security patterns, and drive the adoption of DevSecOps practices across engineering teams. The role combines strategic influence, engineering leadership, and hands-on technical delivery, working at principal engineer level to build scalable, secure platforms used across a global organisation. You will be instrumental in strengthening security capabilities across cloud, DevOps pipelines, identity platforms, and enterprise infrastructure, ensuring that security is Embedded seamlessly into engineering practices. What you will be doing -
Design and implement end-to-end enterprise security solutions across both cloud and on-premise environments. -
Build and deliver new security platforms, environments, and frameworks, including proofs of concept and pilots for emerging technologies. -
Develop reusable security patterns and reference architectures to reduce developer friction and improve security consistency. -
Lead initiatives across DevSecOps, IAM, secrets management, CI/CD pipeline security, and software supply chain security. -
Implement secure secrets management using cloud-native vaults and HashiCorp Vault. -
Work closely with platform and engineering teams to identify security gaps and deliver practical, scalable solutions. -
Lead the design, build, testing, and rollout of security capabilities across the enterprise. -
Manage and mentor a small team of engineers, setting direction and ensuring successful delivery. -
Drive enterprise-wide adoption of security engineering patterns through stakeholder engagement and technical leadership. -
Produce high-quality technical designs, implementation documentation, and knowledge transfer materials. -
Operate as a principal-level engineer, influencing architecture decisions and shaping engineering strategy. What we are looking for -
Strong experience in security engineering, DevSecOps, identity and access management, and secrets/key management. -
Hands-on expertise with CI/CD pipeline security, cloud platforms, and software supply chain security. -
Experience implementing HashiCorp Vault or similar secrets management platforms. -
Proven experience building enterprise-grade solutions across public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and on-premise infrastructure. -
Experience leading engineering teams and delivering large-scale technical initiatives. -
Ability to design, build, test, and scale secure platforms across complex enterprise environments. -
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and documentation skills. Desirable experience  |
