GCP DevOps Consultant Sheffield based (2 days per week onsite) 6 Month contract 475 per day (inside IR35) We're currently supporting an organisation based Sheffield who require an experienced DevOps Consultant. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in designing, automating, and optimising cloud-native platforms within a highly regulated enterprise environment. Responsible for driving DevOps best practices, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, and Kubernetes-based deployments across Google Cloud, helping to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions. Role Responsibilities - Design, build, and support scalable cloud-native platforms on Google Cloud (GCP).
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting languages.
- Manage and optimise Kubernetes (GKE) environments, Docker containers, and Helm deployments.
- Build, enhance, and maintain enterprise CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Git-based workflows.
- Implement DevSecOps practices, integrating security and code quality tools into delivery pipelines.
- Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and operations teams to improve platform reliability and automation.
- Monitor and optimise platform performance using tools such as Datadog, Grafana, and AppDynamics.
- Support hybrid cloud environments and ensure robust networking and security controls are in place.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, deployment, and pipeline-related issues.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardisation, and best practice adoption.
Experience Required - Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), GKE, and Kubernetes.
- Expertise in Docker, Helm Charts, and containerised deployments.
- Proven experience with Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash/Shell scripting, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong knowledge of Jenkins CI/CD, Groovy pipelines, Git, and branching strategies.
- Experience implementing DevSecOps tooling including SonarQube, Checkmarx, and container security scanning.
- Solid Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools including Datadog, Grafana, and AppDynamics.
- Knowledge of networking, firewalls, and enterprise DevOps operating models.
- Experience supporting applications across hybrid and public cloud environments.
Desirable - GCP, CKA, or CKAD certifications.
- Experience with CloudSQL and Memorystore.
- Knowledge of enterprise networking and API platforms.
- SRE background and experience working within Agile delivery environments.
