A leading global financial services organisation is investing heavily in the evolution of its cybersecurity and data capabilities and is seeking a Technical Solution Engineer to join a high performing Cyber Strategy & Governance function. This is a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of cybersecurity, architecture, engineering, and large-scale data platforms, helping shape the technical direction of a complex enterprise environment. You'll play a key role in designing and governing solutions that support advanced cyber analytics, security operations, and data-driven decision making across a highly regulated organisation. The Opportunity; Joining a team responsible for driving cybersecurity transformation, you'll act as the technical authority for solution design, ensuring platforms and applications are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned to enterprise standards. Working closely with engineering, platform, architecture, and governance teams, you'll own technical solutions from early requirements through to production deployment and ongoing support. This role combines strategic architecture responsibility with hands-on technical involvement and offers the chance to influence technology direction across a large-scale data and analytics ecosystem. Key Responsibilities; - Produce and maintain architecture artefacts including high and low-level designs, architecture decision records, standards, and reusable design patterns.
- Lead end-to-end solution design for custom-built cybersecurity applications and services.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of a large-scale data platform supporting advanced analytics and security capabilities.
- Evaluate new technologies and open-source tooling through proof-of-concept activities and technical assessments.
- Drive consistency and standardisation across platforms by promoting reusable architectural patterns and best practices.
- Collaborate with software engineering and platform teams to support successful delivery and implementation.
- Partner with enterprise architecture and governance functions to ensure solutions adhere to organisational policies, controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate technical design reviews, architecture forums, and governance discussions with senior stakeholders.
- Provide hands-on technical input where required, including development and troubleshooting activities.
What We're Looking For; - Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale technical solutions from concept through to production.
- Strong background working with large-scale data platforms and distributed systems.
- Experience operating within complex cloud and/or on-premise environments.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable influencing cross-functional teams without direct management authority.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic approach to balancing strategic architecture with delivery requirements.
- Hands-on mindset with the ability to get involved in technical implementation when needed.
Desirable Experience - Cloud technologies including AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Cybersecurity architecture and secure-by-design principles.
- Threat modelling and security control frameworks.
- Identity and Access Management (IAM), authentication and authorisation models.
- Encryption, key management and secrets management practices.
- Secure logging, monitoring, audit and compliance controls.
- Secure software development life cycle (SSDLC) and vulnerability management.
- Open-source data technologies and modern engineering practices.
