QA and Test Engineer Job Type: Contract, Outside IR35 Location: Hybrid, Central London (1 day per week onsite) Clearance: Active SC Clearance required We are seeking an experienced Test Engineer to support the enhancement and ongoing development of a cloud-based data platform hosted in AWS. This Test Engineer opportunity is ideal for someone with strong experience in test automation, API testing, data validation, and Python, who enjoys working across complex integrations and data pipelines in an Agile environment. Day-to-day of the role - Define and implement the overall testing strategy and quality approach for the platform.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and reusable test suites.
- Carry out functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing across platform components.
- Validate APIs, system integrations, and complex data processing workflows.
- Use SQL to perform data quality checks, transformation validation, and reporting assurance.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support deployment validation activities.
- Investigate defects, carry out root cause analysis, and work closely with engineering teams to resolve issues.
- Contribute to solution design reviews with a focus on quality, risk, and testability.
- Support non-functional testing, including performance, load, and resilience testing where needed.
- Produce clear test documentation, evidence, and assurance reports for stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications - Active SC Clearance is essential.
- Strong background in software testing and quality assurance within Agile delivery environments.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated testing frameworks.
- Strong Python skills for automation, validation, and test development.
- Experience testing APIs, system integrations, and cloud-hosted applications.
- Good SQL skills for data validation, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Experience testing data pipelines, ETL processes, or other data-centric platforms.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, defect management, risk-based testing, and root cause analysis.
- Experience with AWS environments is highly desirable, alongside exposure to serverless, event-driven, or reporting solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with public sector or regulated environment experience beneficial.
